I am honestly surprised that no one has mentioned the movie.. "The Way of the Gun"

Love the movie and it was created by the director of The Usual Suspects.
Not to mention that its filmed in Utah, has some of the best weapons handling and tactics seen than in any other movie. Partially due to the fact that the directors brother is a SEAL.

Just to warn you, its very deep movie and if you are expecting mindless violence it will fly right over your head.

Way of the Gun had the best opening I've ever seen- Sarah Silverman getting punched twice.  Sadly, it was all downhill from there, because how can you possibly top Sarah Silverman getting punched in the face?  I could watch that for hours!

I'd rather not read back through the past 6-7 pages.  Has anybody mentioned the first Lethal Weapon?

Possible new one, but really it's because reading the synopsis made me laugh and I figured I better beat people to it.

Law Abiding Citizen
http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/lawabidingcitizen/

Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) is an upstanding family man whose wife and daughter are brutally murdered during a home invasion. When the killers are caught, Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx), a hotshot young Philadelphia prosecutor, is assigned to the case. Over his objections, Nick is forced by his boss to offer one of the suspects a light sentence in exchange for testifying against his accomplice. Fast forward ten years. The man who got away with murder is found dead and Clyde Shelton coolly admits his guilt. Then he issues a warning to Nick: Either fix the flawed justice system that failed his family, or key players in the trial will die. Soon Shelton follows through on his threats, orchestrating from his jail cell a string of spectacularly diabolical assassinations that can be neither predicted nor prevented. Philadelphia is gripped with fear as Shelton’s high-profile targets are slain one after another and the authorities are powerless to halt his reign of terror. Only Nick can stop the killing, and to do so he must outwit this brilliant sociopath in a harrowing contest of wills in which even the smallest misstep means death. With his own family now in Shelton’s crosshairs, Nick finds himself in a desperate race against time facing a deadly adversary who seems always to be one step ahead.

Boondock Saints has got to be a top 5 for me "Jesus. He brought a six-shooter. There's nine bodies, genius. What the f*** were you going to do, laugh the last three to death, Funny-Man?"

Black Hawk Down and Saving Private Ryan are my all time favorite movies. Being that they are based on true events that occurred.

If I recall, Saving Private Ryan was inspired by a true story where ALL the brothers in a family were killed.  There was no "rescue mission", and sadly, the family line ended.  That was what ended the practice of having family serve together in common units.  Special features on my DVD talks about the Sullivan brothers, all 5 were killed serving aboard the USS Juneau.  However, looking on Wiki I also found the Niland brothers- 2 of the 4 survived.

I almost mentioned that one too but I felt nothing but shame for watching it. ( I've never laughed that hard and yet been offended at the same time )

I don't know if this has been said already but does anyone remember Deal of the Century with Chevy Chase, Sigourney Weaver, Gregory Hines, and Wallace Shawn. It's pretty dated but totally hilarious!

Actually it's a good movie for Shelton....

I know this is an older thread, and most likely these have been mentioned but I wanted to throw out my favs:

All of the Rider with no name series by Clint Eastwood. ie A fist full of dollars
Wild Bunch
Way of the Gun
The Shield >The whole series is great. Mackey's (sp?) 4506 is like the staple of the show.
The Searchers

I have probably many more but these are the essentials for me.

You guys should see District 9.  It's from the guy that was doing the halo movie and it has some awesome firefights.  The merc's look so realistic, it's amazing.

I just finished watching Taking Chance, all I have to say is- Respect. I live near Jefferson Barracks National Cemetary and frequently see the prcessions come by.  If you have never been to a national cemetary, I would encourage you to visit one sometime. It is a truly awsome experience to know all of the sacrifices that were made on behalf of you and me.

On a less serious note I recommend watching Zombieland.  I thought it was funny, and Woody Harrelson gets to have fun with guns.  And the hottie is, well...a hottie.
