This post is intended to help you out of towners deal with parking for attending the rally this Friday.
Chicago recently stopped using parking meters for on-street parking. If you see a meter, it probably has a hood on it.
To park on-street you must find the pay box which will be located in the center of the block where you park. You insert money (it may take credit cards) into the pay box for the amount of time you want - I recommend 3 hours to give yourself some cushion time. The machine issues a time stamped receipt which you place on the dashboard on the drivers side. The meter people drive up and down on 4 wheeled ATV and Seques so if they can't see the receipt from the street side you will be ticketed.
The rate is $2 per hour so bring a roll of quarters.
There are also parking garages but that will be more expensive.
My guess is you won't be able to find open spaces close to the rally site. (so be prepared to walk - hope the weather is good)
If you're able to navigate around on public tranportation - check out the cta website at
http://www.transitchicago.com/ You can also park at Grant park which is underground and entrances are on Michigan ave but those are'nt cheap either (I think it's about $10-12)
Good luck to all who can attend - I cannot because of work.

Post to this blog if you have any questions and I will try to respond quickly.
