I wanted to get some recommendations for hearing protection.  I use the surefire ear pros and they work well but have been looking into some electronic muffs.  I've noticed in some of the ProArms videos that electronic muffs were being used.  What are your recommendations?  I would prefer some that I could use with a rifle as well.  Thanks!

.
Picked up a pair of these http://www.amazon.com/Howard-Leight-R-01526-Electronic-Earmuff/dp/B001T7QJ9O on the recommendation of the Mad Orge blogger and gun shoppe owner.  Like 'em a lot.  And they go for a good price.  The muffs are thin, and pose no problems for mounting the stock of a long gun.

I can clearly hear the instructions in an indoor range and still not be deafened when someone shoots their atomic hand-cannon next to me.  (Are there really that many grizzly bears in the L.A. Basin?)

One thing: The earmuff has a port for plugging in a radio or iPod.  That feature never worked for me.  It didn't bother me enough to take the muffs back to the store and get another pair.  So I don't know if it is a flaw of my unit or the entire design.

Man, I'm having problems with the GRRN server..... Think we need to get Mark some more cash....

I use Walker Game Ears. Pricey at over $300 (and use N batteries). But, very light weight, four channel input mikes, and have lasted four years of match use. I love them. Another, much lesser priced option at about $37, is the Champion Electronic Ear Muffs. Very solid muffs, use AA batteries, and have one input mike per side. I have a set and keep them as a back up in case the Walker set goes down. I could probably function, in a match, just about as well with the Champions as I do with the Walkers... but I love the increased sensitivity of the Walkers. I can hear what the other shooters behind the line are saying about me... and know which ones to give procedural's to when I'm SOing them. Some shooters have figured that out and have stopped bad mouthing me behind my back. But... every now and then one of them screws up. I wouldn't hear that with the Champions, although they would work well for match shooting.

I recently purchased a set of surefire earpros and to tell you the truth I really think I wasted my money. I can't seem to get them to seat right and I have tried tweeking them every which way. To me they just plain hurt. I am interested in the E- muffs though. Do they come with A/C and cushion ride?

The ear protection that you see most of us wearing are Wolf Ears but they are no longer being made or repaired by the company. Dillon has a pair that I have tried and liked, also has a plug for the iPod.
