Hey guys,
I am getting canned at work on Friday and my industry is dead so it looks like I am going to be sitting at home this winter or working at home depot.

Looking for video game info.  What video games do you play and what are the specs of your systems?
I have not looked at PC games in about 10 years because it seems each time a new game came out I needed $200 in upgrages to the computer to play it.
I have not turned on my xbox in over a year.
I am thinking of buying a 360 extreme.
That is after I get back in shape and fix up the house.

I play Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare Usually in someones clan server playing search and destroy.
Team fortress 2
Eve online
Ghost recon advanced warfighter with co op mod <- this is fun, huge maps and have to use team work. some missions take hours to finish.
I have prepurchased through steam Modern Warfare 2 for me and the wife already so we will be playing that when it comes out.
Recently we have been playing a lot of Texas holdem in the face book zynga poker application.
I will probably get bio shock 2 and assassins creed 2 when they release.
Modern warfare is pretty much the only game I play very regularly and take seriously. I play in leagues and ladders and enjoy the competition side of it.

My computers specs are
Processor:    Q9650 3.0 core 2 quad OCd to 3.8
Memory:    4 GB Crucial Ballistix DDR3 2000/PC3 16000
Hard Drive: 1X 500GB WD 2X 10K RPM VelociRaptors on raid 0
Video Card: GTX 280 Hydro Copper OCd
Monitor:    24" Wide Screen Acer 2 ms HD LCD
Sound Card: Creative X-Fi Extreme Fatality Series
Speakers/Headphones:    Razer Barracuda
Keyboard:    Logitech G15
Mouse:    Razer Lachesis
Mouse Surface: Rocketfish Speed
Operating System:    Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit
Motherboard: Asus Striker 2 extreme
Computer Case: Thermaltake Sword M

I built that machine just over a year ago, it should run all games on max settings with great frame rates for the next year or so.

if you have a steam account add me as a friend. Shepherd0351
If anyone isn't familiar with steam. It is an application that allows you to purchase games online and download them. It doesn't matter what computer your on. All you have to do is log in and you can play your games that you have purchased through them. No need to keep up with game discs and keys. You can also chat or join friends in games with the click of your mouse.

My name on Xfire is Shepherd0369
Xfire is a gaming chat/messenger client that allows you to share files, chat, get game updates and join friends in the server they are in with the click of your mouse.

Hope to be virtually shooting you soon.

The newest HALO ODST was definitely decent.

the new Batman was also a hoot.

I could play Resident Evil 5 over and over, tons of replay value.

the first left for dead was a great DEMO but a bad game, , you'll be done with it in a week, , the second is out soon and should be allot better. .

I like left for dead but I normally play it with friends on a fairly hard mode that ends up just pissing us all off to the point of rage quitting.
I did like RE5 and still play it a little.

I have a PS3 but I have never played a multiplayer game on a console that wasn't 10 times better on PC so I normally just use it for Metal Gear, Rock Band and blue ray.
Maybe one day I will get into sports games. The consoles excel in that multiplayer genre.

Nope...I haven't played video games in a long while.

Sometimes you just gotta have relaxing me time where you play a game and get the sensation of accomplishment without actually accomplishing anything.
I rarely ever watch TV so my sit down time is usually playing a game or at the computer doing something Gunfighter Cast related.

Sadly living in the backwoods of VT these days there is no Internet so the multi player stuff isn't an option for me.

And to clarify, , I thought Left for Dead was amazing as something to whet the appetite for more. . there just wasn't any more there. .  I played for a couple days and was just like "wait what? that's it? what a tease!"

Def can't wait for the follow up though.

I play Americas Army 2 (AA2), They just came out with AA3.
It's a mult player shoot-em game. It has many maps but I just play 2 or 3 of them.
The best part is that it's free you can down load it or get it from the local Army recruiter. Yes are taxes at work!

I play a little of everything after getting burned out on Battlefield 2. I competed in TWL and CAL leagues for a few years and had fun, we were #1 in the world off and on for a stretch. Right now I play GRID racing, Wolfenstein, Fallout 3 (an good training tool for the coming apocalypse Wink and I'm really waiting for Modern Warfare 2 which I hope has vehicles for multi. My machine was built a few yrs back but can play Crysis on High settings no problem so I haven't a need to upgrade. Leaves more money for guns and ammo for when the real zombies come! Always better to build your own rig. Just like an AR it's all about the parts you select.

I play a PC game called Red Orchestra.  It is a FPS during WWII between Germany and Russia.  It is based on an older Unreal engine so it should run pretty good on an older system.  It is mainly online with around 32 to 50 players per map.  It is not the run and gun play of Team Fortress2 or Call of Duty 4, much more team based to get things accomplished.  It has many of the guns and tanks of that era with realistic ballistic models.

The easiest way to get it is through Steam (www.steampowered.com) and it only costs about $15.00.  They are currently working on RO2: Heros of Stalingrad which should add quite a few new features but IMHO this is the best game I have ever played.  It is actually the thing that got me in to the shooting sport and guns.

Well I've been playing a couple games as of late.  If you're looking for a couple great Xbox 360 games take a look at Brutal Legend and Bionic Commando.  Brutal Legend is the most metal game to ever exist (it takes place in the world of heavy metal so there you go) and Bionic Commando is just a crap ton of fun.

On the PC I've been playing Sin of a Solar Empire.  It's a space based strategy game where you command fleets and try to secure different planets in a solar system.  It's actually pretty complex in that it incorporates things like economy and cultural influence.

My specs are as follows:

Manufacturer:  Apple
Model:  Mac Pro (Generation 1)
Processors:  2 x Dual Core Xeon Woodcrest Processors running at 2.66GHz
RAM:  6GB FB-DIMM
Hard Drives: 4 x 1TB Western Digital Green Drives (Three are in a RAID5 partition)
Video Card:  nVidia GeForce 7300 GT (My weak link)
Sound:  On board audio
Operating System:  Mac OS X / Windows 7 64-bit Edition (Although VMWare Fusion now lets me play Sins in a virtual machine)

I know this is an old thread but I recently started playing Modern Warfare 2.  I have been listening to the gunfighter cast a lot lately and from all the experience you have with military firearms training, I was just wondering which setup you like or use the most.  I know it varies depending on which game type or map you're playing.  So lets just say if you are playing a version of deathmatch be it hardcore, express or regular.  I just thought it would be interesting to read your point of view on it. Eye relief is a big issue for me.  And Im not much of a sniper.  In my case I really like using the red dot over the holosight even though in RL the eotech is way better than a cheap bushnell red dot sight you can get from walmart for little money.

This is kind of where I am through I get in outdoor channel on dvr, and some basketball, plus I play non-time intense games when I am on meetings that may not require complete focus...but this I mean generally the beta testing work I have been doing for EA on its web-based version of Tiger Woods.  The xbox I have a lot of games for but if I have time, I am hitting the river to fish, the golf course or better yet down at the range slinging lead.

For MW2 If I am not trying to complete the perk challenges and really want to play well I use. Slight of hand and Stopping power, I use Scrambler For TDM, dom, HQ, etc... and for Search and destroy (my favorite but not usually in public servers or even MW2 for that matter) I use Ninja.

I am ashamed to say that I do a lot of pre-firing and jumping around corners so I like to be able to reload fast. If its hardcore (I hate HC) there is no need for stopping power so you can use lightweight or hardline.
Using a grenade launcher, last stand, martyrdom and especially danger close with a "noobtube" is all frowned upon by competitive players and if you use them no one will want to play with you.

If your on PC add me to your steam or xfire.  Steam = shepherd0351 Xfire = shepherd0369

I am on 360.  I just can't get into PC gaming.  Tried it with Counter Strike Source and America's Army.  I just don't like the controls.

So are you using open sites and the noobtube?  Or are you using another add on?  I like the acog for big maps and the red dot for smaller maps.  I'm not a good sniper and I don't like to camp too much.

For TDM this is what I like:
M16A4 - red dot/silencer
m93 raffica (sic)
semtex
flashbangs
bling pro
cold blooded
ninja pro

I like to run around a lot and as a result I die a lot.  LOL.  So going with a stealthy weapons class works in my favor.  I haven't been shooting around corners lately and I never jump around corners.  I didn't figure that trick out before I knew it was frowned upon.

I don't use the noobtube at all.
I like the red dot on the ACR and tmp for secondary.
Stun grenades because they throw faster.
Symtex for those silly guys with shields.

PC Gaming > console gaming.

although how they are porting games from console now, they feel like they were originally made to use with a controller... shame... SHAME!

haha.

PC Gaming > console gaming.
Yes, there's no joy quite like having a game update break your game on your PC, so you can spend hours trying to fix some stupid setting and chasing down the older version of a driver because the new one is incompatible...  Console gaming, and one known set of hardware, for the win.   Wink

Mods, DLC, all free. well at least it was until console began charging.

Seriously though, PCs can be a pain. Basicly and computer knowledge I possess comes from mostly trying to get games to work. That could be a good thing or a bad thing.

Also, Keyboard and mouse > controllers... although witht the way they make games now you might as well use a controller...

what was my point again?

I'd give you the keyboard and mouse, except that WASD can't move my game character in analog speeds like the the past two generations of consoles have, and that's a nice feature.  And a controller is the only way to go for a platform game.

But controllers will never do an RTS well, flight sim, etc.  I think it's almost less about PC vs. console and more about which games you like playing.  I'll set myself up up as a heretic right now- I hate CounterStrike, all the crappy user made maps, cheats, and glitchy play that goes along with online FPS games on PCs...
