As some of you may have heard, the Kansas City area has a serial rapist on the loose.  The Kansas City NBC station ran a story about him this evening and some ideas to help women protect themselves.

A few days ago I listened to the episode about poor advice, including the use of wasp spray and using your car alarm to alert neighbors in case you're in trouble.  I think Alex gave very good reasons not to use wasp spray and not to rely on your car alarm to summon help.

What did the news have to say about protecting yourself?  They touted the spraying abilities of wasp spray and you can summon neighbors with your car alarm.  Maybe NBC should subscribe to the podcast!

It seems they put as much thought into news stories as they do gun stories. I don't think news agencies employ fact checkers any more.
