Eric, a little patch of grass is good for your soul, especially if you're not originally from AZ. Good job. My biggest fright is that I can't pay off debt before 10-20 years. Whatever economic carnage occurs will probably happen within 5. Also, I can't move unless I don't expect to ever come back. My most recent thought is this: How much toilet paper does a family of five need for six months? I don't think I can count that high. Nor do I have that much storage! Larry
Well if we get hit with Mexico like inflation you can just use spare 1s-20s Pay off all debt (including house) is hard, everything but house, we managed took serious work/discipline and fortunately we didn't get ourselves too deep. tom

On what I guess is a related note, I should mention I've been working on getting my fat butt back in shape, too. When I started getting serious about it a few months ago, I would get winded walking up the hill on my street, now I run right over the thing. Physical fitness is probably one of the most overlooked aspect of survival "situations". You will be the protector, truck, hauler, mover, gatherer, and everything else. fitness also helpswith stress and anxiety. It is paramount. Matt G Yep. Rule #1: Cardio

Cardio: Insanity baby! That program is whooping my behind and I've always considered myself to be in pretty decent shape.
I have nothing but good things to say about Jack. I'm hurting bad like a lot of people due to this economy, but thanks to him I don't have credit cards to worry about, I have one loan that I'm trying to get taken care of, and then my car which I hope to pay off soon. I'm so glad that I don't have a lot of debt hanging over my head because if I did I honestly don't know what I would do right now with my financial situation.
I don't have a lot of spending money at the moment, but everytime I'm at the grocery store I'm slowly adding things that I normally eat and buying just a few extras here and there and it is finally starting to add up in my pantry. That is a good feeling too knowing that I don't have to go to the grocery store everyday, and that I can last for a while without it. I have a small food bank of different pastas, canned tuna, chicken, sauce, oats, canned beans, rice, etc. Every little bit helps...

I am working on being debt free by this Christmas (that will be my present this year). Got my BOB ready except for med kit (in progress). Have my egress plans mostly in place and my food/water is good for about 30 days right now. We had a small garden last year which turned out good so this year much bigger. I have a .9 acre lot with my small 1450 sq ft house and our plants are started already in our mini greenhouses. We have our own well an septic and live between country/city. Many lakes and rivers nearby and train tracks for straight easy travel throught the woods if the highways get jammed up. Rail road tracks have there own bridges and are the fastest, straightest getaway that no one pays attention to anymore. I have maps of all the connecting lines throughout the nation. If the SHTF the roads will be chaos. I am much better prepared than a year ago, if times get tough, or even if they don't:)

Also a Survival Podcast listener.
Aggresively paying off debt, have gotten into pressure canning, did our first garden last year, BOBs, Appleseed shooter (and now instructor).
Jack's format is powerful but hard to keep up with. On average I spend more time thinking about survival than guns because I am trying to keep up with the episodes of Survival Podcast and most of the gun podcasts are about once a week. So I spend more time listening to Jack.
I do miss the auto rants. My wife started out listening to him out of morbid curiosity, waiting for him to start screaming at other drivers. Now she is a modern survivalist in her own right.
Bottom line is that the Survival Podcast ethos of making your life better even if nothing bad ever happens is an awesome way to live your life. The elimination of debt, the better living and eating when you produce some of your own food and prepare more of it, the outdoor familly activies like gardening and shooting all make a fantastic life for people and have nothing to do with bomb shelters or Endtimes.
That and I am a firm believer that you are vulnerable if you dont have 3 cases of toilet paper at home.

So I didn't listen for a few weeks and I keep seeing people talk about his rants not being there. Is he finally doing this full time? He was talking about being able to quit his job and do the podcast for a living. Has he moved to the BOL yet?

Last I heard he hadn't moved yet but he was headed out to the BOL for a few days. As far as the job goes I'm not sure.

I am a Survival Podcast listener and a mod on the forum.
The Survival Podcast has improved my life. I went from unprepared and scared to prepared and relaxed. The transformation in me from a year and a half ago is amazing. I was raised a country boy but got into a white-collar suburban existence that turned me into a sheeple. Thank you Jack and all the people on the forum.

Here in frozen Pennsylvania, we still have snow on our planting areas (raised boxes) but do to wind damage from a storm I have blown down trees (60-70 Eastern Hemlock) which I am in the process of cutting into more raised beds. Even with a cheap chain saw you can use it as a rough saw mill.
