Hey folks, just thought I would say hello from eastern North Carolina. I'm pretty new to the firearms world, and have discovered the GRRN along with the Podcasts just a few months ago. I've been trying to soak up as much head knowledge and in doing so, have found that the folks that comprise the GRRN in general are the kind of people I would be well advised to pay attention to.
I joined the NRA recently for the first time, and plan on contributing in the near future to this network, as I've definitely learned more from my time spent listening to Podcasts and cruising the forums than I have in the coworker or gun shop setting where all too often bravado dominates the conversation.
Should the stars align for me, I'll be applying for a handgun purchase permit at the end of this month, and hopefully in April I'll buy my first handgun.

I have taken the NRA Basic Pistol class, and had the chance to shoot a few different handguns, and unless I'm convinced otherwise, a full size M&P 9mm may be my gun of choice. The folks at ProArms had a lot of good things to say about it in Podcast 009.
Anywho, thanks to all the Podcasters and others who make the GRRN what it is. Job well done!
