It's going to be "both."  The wife and I joined a local club that offers martial arts classes.  Once again, thanks for the input everyone.

Don't forget diet.  If you're going to be working out, your body needs good fuel for the exertion instead of Cheetos and Ring Dings.

I (mostly) stick to what's called the Paleo Diet.  That's just my preference, and easiest way to moderate what I eat.  I have no problem avoiding junk like enriched white flour.  (Just for kicks, compare countries that use enriched white flour to nations with incidence of diabetes.  Pretty interesting.)

Language warning, but Arthur's Hall has some interesting articles on it, should you choose.
My Life as a Caveman
Go Paleo!!!

Again, Paleo is just my choice as I find it easy to do, but the important thing is that you find what works for you.  But putting cheap gas that will knock in a high-performance racing engine makes about as much sense as working out and not eating well.  I've dropped 20 pounds, 4 inches from my waist, lost no size in upper body, and have veins visible along my bicep at rest now.  Make it a way of life instead of a fad (cough, cough, P90X buyers, cough cough!!) and you'll see the benefits- just stay the course.

I have been looking into the Paleo diet Eric, I dont know how whole hog I will go but will adopt at least some of it.

I also have to take on the P90x bashing Eric.  Just because something is a fad doesnt mean it isnt any good.  As far as DVD workouts go (I dont have many) P90x is about the best I have run into.  I am enjoying it and tuning out the entreaties to buy their line of supplements.  Personally I am new to fitness as a recreational activity.  I have been in the Army for almost 10 years and have spent that entire time doing either fitness activities designed around the Army Physical Fitness Test or preparing for them and foot marching with rucksacks.  It has been an eye opener for me and when I have completed it I intend to learn more and go my own way in fitness but for now it has been a great stepping stone.

Blanket statement for all P90X fans who took exception to what I said: read the important part of the sentence.
