Thanks Chris, I'm still itching to try 'em. Would likee to see the glitches worked out, though.

Steve installed the ones Gail & I are using, and they've held up fine.

I'll ask him to respond when he has time. He's up to his butt at Pro-Arms right now, things are going (no pun intended) great guns there.

I think a lot of folks are "topping off".  Buying the pieces they have been putting off.  I know I am.  Bought two guns since the election.  Model 25 S+W and a shotgun.  One more and I'm about done and will drop into "wait and see mode".  The local shops here are working OT.

Sales are so "brisk" stuff is going out faster than it is coming in, there's not much available out there. I put on the ProArms Store website that we have Socomms and AR-15s but that won't last much longer and .223 ammo is going out by the case.

Advantage sights... I promised I would give my final impressions when I had time to get them solidly on the gun and run enough rounds to check reliability. That's now been done.. and my final opinion is:

I'm VERY IMPRESSED with these sights as a close range (25 yards and under) self defense handgun sight.

Very quick to acquire... no holster problems if your holster has any kind of a sight track ( mine is a Bianchi #7 Shadow, pancake... works great) .. THE ADVANTAGE SIGHTS ARE EXTREMELY EASY T0 SEE WITH OLD EYES.

With the Advantage sights on my Glock 29, it has now become my primary concealed carry gun, and the S&W M&P compact has been tucked away. I kinda like the 175 grain Win Silvertip 10mm a bit better than the 9mm +P loads in the M&P (actually a lot better) and the Glock only weighs a few ounces more. More importanly, I can acquire the Advantage sights on the Glock faster than the standard notch&post on the S&W. And, I can get the same accuracy...head shots at 20 yards on an IDPA target are no problem. They're just faster with the Advantage sights.

Now that 've had a chance to really play with them, I can safely say the Advantage sights are FOR REAL... and they work damned good. It didn't take me more than 20-30 rounds to get used to them and deliver as good, or better, performance than standard sights.

Now I understand why Mas whipped my ass at the last IDPA match with them.

Chris, say it ain't so! You COULDN'T have put away the M&P! Not you.

Thanks for following up on this thread.

Oh, I'm not buying the "That's why Mas beat me ..." line.

Can I borrow it? (the line, not the gun)

You were smart to avoid angering the Princess, Beldavius.

Tomorrow will be the first day this year that she HASN'T killed anything. Only the turtle and I are left alive here, and are eying each other nervously, wondering who's next.

I have explained to the turtle that if he wasn't meant to be soup, he wouldn't have been born wearing a bowl, but he looks back at me balefully unamused, and may know something I don't.

Am hoping to make it to Saturday so she can vent her wrath on Kevin instead of me.

Alas, poor Kevin! I knew him, Massad, a fellow of infinite
jest, of most excellent fancy. He hath bore me on his back a
thousand times, and now how abhorr'd in my imagination it is!
My gorge rises at it.

Update on Advantage sights. At the SHOT Show I checked their booth and they have a set up for shotguns. AWESOME! Same concept as handguns... really fast to acquire and more than accurate enough for 50 yard+ slug work. If I was back on the streets with a 12 gauge racked in the unit I WOULD HAVE these sights on it.
They also tell me that by the end of summer they expect to have them available for several additional handgun models, including the M&P. I will have a set on at least one of my M&Ps. They work!

Chris,
We saw the best example of how quickly someone can adapt to these sights at the last IDPA match. I don't remember all the specifics, as I wasn't paying that close of attention until after the fact, when I realised what had just happened. Mas can probably fill in the details better.

One of the people on our squad, a young and (I believe) not very experienced shooter, had the standard notch and post front sight come loose on his pistol while shooting a stage of the match. Re-shoots are allowed for equipment failure, and though he did finish the stage with the malfunctioning gun, he decided to reshoot it. Mas loaned him the Glock he was using with the Advantage sights on it. I don't remember exactly how much time he cut off of that stage, but it was substantial. What caught my attention was that when his time was called out, it was quite a few seconds (@ 4 - 6) faster than my time for that stage. I also believe, not sure here, that he was zero points down for the re-shot stage. Faster and accurate. Good combination for a carry pistol.

Naturally, I lodged a complaint with match officials and tried to have him disqualified, because it was obvious that Mas had put the "Mojo Hoo-Doo" on that pistol, giving the kid an unfair supernatural advantage.

Just waiting for them to come out for the M&P.

-Kevin
